The Revised Fighter is modestly different from their 3E counterpart.

The new Fighter continues to be the preeminent combat specialists. They no longer receive bonus feats every two levels, instead gaining universal weapon focus, specialization, and critical feats as they progress.

This has the benefit of allowing Fighters to use any weapon they find on an adventure. It also distinguishes the class from Rangers, Paladins, and other martial vocations.
