The Revised Ranger is modestly different from their 3E component.
Rangers remain a martial class with supplementary abilities. Like Paladins, they have access to magic and a handful of class-specific abilities. They also benefit from certain Rogue skills.
Their unique combination of talents makes them well-suited as solo adventurers. Those that choose support familiars (pixie, imp) can round out their repertoire, while those that choose combat companions (bear, panther, pseudodragon) can fight more effectively.
